Ava Joy is FOUR!

FOUR!!! How can Ava be four already?! Each year seems to go faster and faster. When I tell Ava I'm not sure how I feel about her growing so quickly she tells me, "Don't worry mama. Even when I'm a grown up, I will still snuggle you...maybe not in your lap, but for sure in bed" <3

At four years old, Ava has blossomed into such a lovely young lady, and we are just so very proud of her and blessed by her.

Some of her favorite things are:

  • Greyson - she loves him so very much, despite the daily screams to get him away from ruining whatever creation she's working on
  • Mama - she loves her dada very much, but she is still very much a mama's girl and wants every opportunity to be with mama
  • The color pink!
  • All things princesses
  • Crafting, but not coloring (she gets so quickly bored with coloring, which is so funny to me for someone who could craft for hours)
  • Cooking and baking, and helping mama prep meals
  • Doing chores to earn money - she's really understanding the concepts of saving, giving and needing money to buy things we want
  • Reading - still can sit and read for hours
  • learning - she LOVES school, and asks nearly daily for mama to make school work for her...like hiding numbers all around the house on post its and having her find them and put them in order haha
  • Being social and making friends. Ava is about as much of an extrovert as one could be, and just loves to introduce herself and make friends wherever we go
  • Playing make-believe! Ava has a flair for the dramatics, and it's actually quite impressive how she can channel the traits, facial expressions, and vocal abilities of whatever princess she's pretending to be!

Some of her personality traits:
  • Highly sensitive...just like mama. It doesn't take much to make her cry, which is exasperating at times, but on the positive side, it's what makes her care so deeply about everyone and everything. Her heart is as big as could be, and she really humbles me with how thoughtful and considerate she is of her actions and her words, and how perceptive she is of how others feel. Even if she sees a hurt lizard, she'll get sad and ask how we can help him <3
  • Fun and silly - Ava loves to be a typical goofy four year old, and especially loves to make others laugh...so, she spends a good part of each day doing so.
  • Inquisitive... they say 4 year olds ask hundreds of questions a day. Well, for Ava that's easily bumped into the thousands. Usually by about 5pm, after 10 straight hours of serving as an encyclopedia, I have to tell her I'm done answering questions for the day. I absolutely love how curious she is, and seeing how intricately and brilliantly her reasoning process works, but boy....after 10 hours of it, even a mama needs a break!
  • Sweet and caring - Ava is a guinely sweet, loving, caring girl. Even when she misbehaves and gets a consequence (which honestly happens pretty rarely compared to average 4 year olds), it never takes her very long, and is never even prompted, for her to come to and apologize...she hates hurting others or letting others down. She thrives on helping and encouraging, and I just love that about her!
Favorite Foods:
  • Cheese! Always and forever.
  • Vegetables (again not like your typical 4 year old haha)...favorites are beets, broccoli, green beans and bell peppers
  • Fruit...favorites are apples, raspberries, strawberries, and bananas
  • Meat - any and every meat. Thankfully she loves tofu too...she professes it to be her favorite!
  • Sweets...if it were up to Ava she would eat cupcakes daily!
As with prior years, we conducted a 4th birthday interview. You can see it at the link below:

Ava is obsessed with Princess Sofia, so naturally she requested a Princess Sofia birthday party, and we were happy to oblige! Okay, perhaps mama went a tad overboard...but, when you combine many of my favorite things (hosting, cooking, crafting and kids), how could I not go a little overboard :)

And, some pics of the party fun! The kids all had a blast, which is what it's all about!

I love these fellow mamas so very much - doing this journey without them...I just can't even imagine it!
