Washington for 4th of July!

For 4th of July this year, we took a week off from work and traveled to Washington to spend some quality time with the Mains side of our family. It's the perfect time of year to visit, as the weather is so perfect (though there was an unusual heat wave this year), and it's right before harvest begins.

Traveling via airplane with a toddler is...pretty much the least fun activity ever, but Ava adjusted back to her sleep and normal routine within a few days. Here she is with dada at the Sacramento Airport before getting onboard the first flight...trying to wear her out (we were unsuccessful!)...

Sadly, Ava caught some awful tummy bug the way there, so the first few days we were lying low and dealing with a lot of throw up....hence, no pictures to share.

Once the 4th came along, she was feeling much better! Dee's mother's family has a family reunion this time every year, where everyone camps by the river. So, each day we drove from the house down to the river to visit everyone. Here Ava is at the campsite in her beautiful 4th of July dress Great Auntie DD made just for her...

An adorable video showing just how much she can already comprehend at 13 months old...taking her own temperature... (video can only be viewed on our website directly)

By far, one of my all-time favorite videos. Ava laughing extremely hard during bath time...she thought splashing me with water and me yelping at it was SO funny....

Grandma was so sweet to spoil Ava with tons of toys to play with while there...and she loved them, but also wanted to play with her all-time favorites, pots, pans, and utensils. Here he is stirring the pot...

Aunt Bev, Uncle Bill and Aunt Lynn came over to see Ava (I didn't get a picture of her with them....bad mommy!), but here she is showing them yet another beautiful custom dress Great Aunt DD made just for her...

Ava loved swinging on the playground at Bickleton school

No trip to the farm would be complete without Papa Tom giving Ava a ride in a real combine!

It's too bad Ava got a horrible tummy bug - it knocked her out for most of the trip, but we had so much fun when she was feeling up to venturing out and about. She loves her Grandma & Papa!
