Our Family Has Grown by Four Paws - Puppy Paisley

It's been four weeks exactly since we took miss Paisley home...and soon you'll understand why it's taken us FOUR weeks to write about it ;-)

She is such a love...such a terror too, but really is the best puppy we could ever ask for. Picking her up was such a special memory that I really wish we had though to take pictures of. We were one of the last parents to come get our puppy, since I had gotten back from Tucson just an hour prior and Dee had picked me up at the airport and drove us straight to the breeder's. As we came outside we saw two puppies, one of which was ours...the one that upon seeing us ran as fast as she could to us, and right into Dee's arms as he knelt down to her. It melted my heart and I knew I loved already in that moment.

She was such a good pup on the ride home - no whining or barking...just hiccups, which are incredibly cute by the way!

She and Snickers were pretty darn funny to observe. Snickers thought he was was going to show her who's boss by whacking her tail, pawing at her face...until she decided he was probably a fun toy and ran after him. Needless to say, they're not best friends, but they tolerate each other well for now. :)

Paisley loves to play and run, especially with people. Her favorite game is tug of war, and loves to growl while doing so. While she is part Golden Retreiver, she's not very good at retreiving yet...but, hopefully soon.

She also loves to cuddle, and is absolutely convinced that despite all the comfy places we've bought or made for her to lay, in our laps in where she belongs...so cute!

She's incredibly smart too...she's already house trained, and kennel trained as well. She now loves sleeping in her kennel at night. When I'm not working from home, she has a pen that she sleeps in that's big enough for her to still play in too. God is definitely preparing us for kids - we no longer can sleep through the night or sleep in. Dee's up every day around 5 with her. And she needs constant attention and supervision...boy does she love to chew. Luckily, the 500 pet toys we've bought for her keep her chewing occupied 99% of the time.

Only one scary occurance so far - 8 days into having her, we rushed her on a late Sunday night to the emergency vet, where they put her under and extracted a foxtail from her throat. Broke my heart to see her hurting and in pain...Dee was so strong through it all, but I was sobbing the whole night. Two weeks of round the clock meds (including waking up at 1am and 3am to administer them) and she's all better now.

We can't get enough of her, and can't wait until she is 16 weeks and fully vaccinated so we can start taking her on walks and hikes and road trips!
